How to choose a model

What is the difference between the X PRO series and X?

X PRO this is match-grade premium — German latex Contact PRO 4 mm (trusted in professional models). X is a semi-professional class — latex Giga Grip 4 mm, optimized for regular training and league matches. Difference: grip class, backhand construction, and extras (PRO models have punching zones, double elastic bandage).

What is the difference between Varis and Invictus?

By glove shape:

  • Varis = cut Negative, lighter, more fitted, direct ball feel
  • Invictus = cut Roll Finger+, fuller, larger contact area, hand stabilization

The choice is a matter of preference. One player seeks dynamism and a direct feel (Varis), another a fuller, stable hand fit (Invictus).

Which model for my level?

Full decision guide: How to choose gloves.

Contact PRO 4 mm vs Giga Grip 4 mm — what does that mean?

Two different grip latex types:

  • Contact PRO 4 mm (German) — used in the series X PRO (match models). Top grip, chosen by professional goalkeepers.
  • Giga Grip 4 mm — used in the series X (semi-pro). Very good grip, optimized for regular use, a good balance of quality and everyday playability.

Full comparison tool: Contact PRO vs Giga Grip.

Negative vs Roll Finger+ — what to choose?

Two glove cuts, two philosophies:

  • Negative (Varis) — foam adheres closer to the hand, lighter feel, more direct ball touch
  • Roll Finger+ (Invictus) — foam extends beyond the hand, larger contact surface, fuller, more enclosed feel

Both cuts are used by professional goalkeepers — it's not a matter of "better/worse," but rather preference.

Varis X PRO or Invictus X PRO — which one to choose?

Both with German latex Contact PRO 4 mm — the same top-tier grip. The difference is the glove's shape:

  • Varis X PRO = cut Negative, lighter, dynamic, direct ball feel — for goalkeepers who want precision and quick reaction.
  • Invictus X PRO = cut Roll Finger+, fuller, larger contact surface, stronger hand placement — for goalkeepers who value stability, especially when coming out for crosses.

Latex is the same. Choice = cut preference, not class.

Colors — do they matter?

No — the color scheme is a variant, not a distinct product. The model logic, technology, and performance level are the same for all colors in a given line.

How to choose goalkeeper glove size?

Two measurements:

  • Hand Circumference at the widest point (excluding the thumb), with a tailor's tape measure — the circumference in cm is the approximate glove size
  • Hand length from wrist to the tip of the middle finger + 1 cm allowance

Adult sizes start from 8 (hand ~22 cm), junior 3-5 (Invictus X Junior). If you are between sizes — choose the larger one (cut Negative fits tighter, Roll Finger+ leaves more room).

Detailed instructions: How to measure glove size.

How much do FM gloves cost?

Documented:

  • Varis X PRO (Poland): 379 € + optional personalization 25 €
  • Varis X PRO (EU): 89 EUR + optional personalization 6 EUR

Indicative (check current prices in store):

  • Series X (Varis X / Invictus X): approx. 279 EUR
  • Invictus X Junior: approx. 109 EUR
  • Invictus X Training: approx. 179 EUR
  • Invictus X PRO: around 379 EUR

Are FM gloves worth the price compared to other brands / other premium brands / Uhlsport?

Contact PRO 4 mm (X PRO series) is the same German latex that costs 450-600 EUR in corporate brands. Varis X PRO and Invictus X PRO are 379 EUR — because we produce them ourselves, without intermediaries. The difference is not in the grip, but in the logo and margin.

Are FM gloves tested by professional goalkeepers?

Yes. Founder Wojciech Małecki is a former Ekstraklasa and I league goalkeeper (Korona Kielce, Górnik Łęczna, Znicz Pruszków, Olimpia Grudziądz). Every model undergoes testing with active league goalkeepers before being released. The FM Team (ambassadors) plays in the gloves and reports feedback every season.

Maintenance and lifespan

Why does the grip fail?

Latex foam is a consumable material — it wears out with use. This is not a product defect, but rather the nature of the material. Dirt, high drying temperatures, and storage in humidity shorten its lifespan. Regular washing and rotating between match/training sets — extend it.

When to replace gloves — signs of wear.

How long will a pair of X PRO gloves last?

With 3-4 training sessions + a match per week and proper care — 3-5 months of active season. A match pair used only on Sundays will last full season (8-10 months). Match/training rotation extends the life of both pairs by 2-3×.

My new pair lost grip after 2 training sessions — is this a defect?

In 95% of cases, no. New latex requires washing before first use (protective layer from manufacturing) + wetting the palms before play. If grip returns after washing, it was the protective layer. If the latex peels or detaches after washing, it's a complaint: support@footballmasters.pro + photos.

Why do you recommend rotating two pairs?

Latex needs 24-48h of drying after use to rebuild its grip structure. One pair used day after day dries too quickly, the foam remains damp, and the grip deteriorates 30-40% faster. Two pairs used alternately — each dries for a full cycle. Result: one pair lasts like 1.3×, two pairs last like 3×.

Can I wash gloves in a washing machine?

No. Washing machines mechanically damage latex (drum + detergents + temperature). Hand wash with cool water, mild soap or specialist latex gel, without shaking or wringing. Full guide: How to care for gloves.

How to wash goalkeeper gloves?

Cool water + mild soap if heavily soiled. Not warm water (latex foam degrades at high temperatures). Air dry, never on a radiator or in direct sunlight.

Full Guide: How to care for gloves.

Can I play in new gloves immediately after delivery?

Technically yes, but we recommend: wash in cool water (this will remove the preservative layer), dry for 24h, and train 1-2 dry sessions for the glove to 'settle' on your hand. Playing a match in freshly unboxed gloves carries the risk that the grip is not yet optimal.

Is glue (grip) needed for FM gloves?

No. Latex Contact PRO 4 mm i Giga Grip 4 mm provide a strong grip without additional adhesive. The adhesive known from goalkeeper groups is a patch for poor quality foam — with FM gloves, simply moisten your hands before the match. Adhesive accelerates latex wear and, in the long run, damages, rather than saves, the glove.

What to buy with gloves

What else is worth buying with gloves (goalkeeper's kit)?

  • Second pair (Training or a second pair of X) for rotation — one dries after a match
  • Bag / sack for gloves, ventilated (not plastic promotional)
  • Goalkeeper jersey and shorts — we have a complete FM set
  • For younger players: hip and elbow pads
  • Glue is NOT needed (see above)

Decathlon, Unisport, R-GOL, Sportano — these are distributors. If you are looking for the best price and full assortment — directly from the manufacturer (footballmasters.pro). If you prefer to see them live — selected Decathlon stores and the R-GOL showroom (Kraków).

For parents / juniors

Which model for a U10 / U12 child?

Invictus X Junior — sizes 3 (U7-U9), 4 (U9-U12), 5 (U12-U14). Good quality latex for juniors, Roll Finger+ cut stabilizing the hand (a child needs confidence). Price approx. 109 EUR. Do not buy 'adult' gloves in small sizes — they have thicker latex, and a child's hand cannot control the ball.

What sizes for a junior?

Available: 3, 4, 5 (Invictus X Junior). How to measure — see How to measure glove size. Junior 3 ~ child 6-8 years, 4 ~ 9-11 years, 5 ~ 12-14 years — but for sizing, always measure specifically, as hands grow differently.
